1. What are Interlocs/Microlocs?

Microlocs/Interlocs is an interwoven pattern used to tightly and securely loc the hair.  A tool is often used to provide this service.

2. What is the difference between Microlocs and Sisterlocs?

Only locticians certified under the Sisterlocks ™ trademarked brand can provide Sisterlocks ™. These locticians have received their certification through the instruction developed by the Sisterlock ™ company and only can use the patented Sisterlock™ tool to create any locks they call Sisterlocks.  Microlocs are not subject to one special tool or person.  

3. Why Microlocs over Traditional locs & Braidlocs?

It is all personal preference on how you want your locks to look.  Traditional locs are much much bigger.  Using traditional locking methods.  Microlocs start in an interwoven pattern and stay maintained that way. They are very small in size and more versatile.  Braidlocs size is somewhere in the middle of traditional locs and microlocs.   They are started in a braid and maintained by the interlocking method. 

4. How much does it cost?

Free to $$$$.  It is free if you do it your self.  But depending on what type of locs you want, your hair length.  loc size requested, hair density, and condition of hair the prices can vary.  For more info on what we charge check out our terms and conditions.

5. Does it take long to establish and mature?

To mature it can take upward of a year or maybe two depending on how you care for your hair and your hair type.  For example 4c hair will loc faster than 3a hair.  

For Establishment it can take 1-3 days depending on hair length, loc size, and hair density.

6. How long can I go between re-tightening's?

It is recommended that your re-tightening's are done every 6 weeks.  But you can go as early as 4 weeks or as long as 8 weeks depending on how fast or slow your hair grows.

7. Can I cut and color my locs like free flowing hair?

Yes you can.  However, it is recommend you wait at least a year or until your locs have mature so that you do not interrupt the locking process.

8. Can wear a wig, crotchet my locs, or style them?

Yes.  It is recommended you minimize these things until your locs have matured, but they can be done.

9. What are the age ranges for locs?

Although anyone at any age can get locs, I t is recommended to wait until children are school aged but not a rule

10. What type of products should I use on my microlocs?

We highly recommend that the only products to be used is a clarifying shampoo.  That's it.  If you want more variety you can use apple cider vinegar  as a hair rinse/conditioner and rosewater for scent and moisture.  If you use conditioners, creams, oils, or gels you will experience product build up and this can interfere with the formation and condition of your locs.
